Proposed South Suburban International Airport 19 miles north of RiverStone is the new proposed home of Chicago's third airport in Peotone, Illinois. Land is being purchased according to the Secretary of the Illinois Department of Transportation, This facility is supported by Congress, the Mayor of Chicago, and the Governor of Illinois. The impact of the airport is already reflected in the growth of many nearby communities. Splash Valley Aquatic Center opened June 2004. A $6.4 million investment from the Kankakee Valley Park Districts completes O.A.K Indoor Ice Arena and Fitness Center. The arena is located on the east side of Kankakee Community College and is within a half block of Splash Valley and the National City Softball Complex. The O.A.K. Indoor Ice Arena and Fitness Center is a part of the RiverStone 1,000 acre master plan. It is another great asset to the community. In 2008, the Kankakee Coyotes Hockey Club was formed with 4 divisions offering kids of all ages opportunities to play hockey.
